Do you use google maps to plan for you next roadtrip? I know I usually do, but it wasn’t until I wound up lost on my last trip that I questioned the validity of information that Google Maps outputted to the user. So when the question is asked, can Google Maps be wrong? The answer is yes!
I was cruising along following my directions just like I should have. I then came to the road on which I was supposed to follow and realized that it was gravel. Thinking to myself it could be construction I somewhat blew it off until I realized that this was in fact the road that Google Maps told me to follow. Reality proved however that the road after some 300 feet turned into a company parking lot and appeared to have been removed several years before. The ending result was an extra 15-20 minutes in backtrack/alternate route time and a lesson learned.
Though Google does their best to make sure information is up to date and correct, there can still be flaws. I will still use Google each time I plan my trip, I mean afterall, no pop-up ads, and the service is free, just remember that this could happen to you!
